Mortal Kombat III FAQ (moves list) for revision 2.0 and 2.1 ROMs only
By: Ratman (rat@rat.org) <---- Send comments/additions/corrections here.
FAQ Revision 23 (July 27, 1995)
Q: If this is a FAQ, then where are the questions and answers?
A: This is really just a list of moves, fatalities, animalities. But
"FAQ" has become a very loose term these days.
Q: Do you know about [insert move/code here]?
A: If it's not in this FAQ, I don't know it. If you have confirmed
it yourself, please tell me! Otherwise don't waste my time.
Q: Did you know you can get a 14 hit with kabal if you....
A: I am not doing combos anymore. Mail cyrax@rat.org
And read the Combo FAQ if you want combos. I only include combos
here for the "pushing buttons in a sequence" combos.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
What's New (changes since the previous revision of the FAQ) -----------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-- ADDED
- No new moves. Only corrections. Sorry. :-(
-- CORRECTED
- Sektor's friendship. It is really R-R-R-R-D
- Combo percentages for 2.1

Quick intro -----------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Every move I have confirmed myself on revision 2.0/2.1
If you find that a movement that I described in here has been overdone,
like if I say "F-B-F" and the move is really just "B-F", please tell me.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Other documents -------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are other documents (FAQs) out there that fill in things that are
missing from this FAQ.
(See the "Distribution" section to see where to obtain these documents)
- Robocod's story FAQ. Has all the known stories and endings.
He also has descriptions of all he fats, friendships, and animalities.
email: robocod@rat.org Homepage: http://www.rust.net/~robocod
- Cyrax's finisher FAQ. This one page list of moves is great to print out and
bring to the arcade. It is updated at the same time this FAQ is, so the
information is always up to date.
email: cyrax@rat.org
- Cyrax's combo FAQ. Fills in a void left by this FAQ.
- Dandrayan's HTML version of my FAQ. It is also updated at the same time as
this document, so it's a the same information, just more fun to read.

What's not in here ----------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rumors: If you want rumors, read the other FAQs. Only stuff that actually
works is in here.
1.0: For 1.0 stuff, I have a seperate FAQ. Read that one.
I have stopped updating the 1.0 FAQ. But I still stand by it.
I don't have 1.0 anymore, so I cannot try anything new on it.
Spoilers: If you want descriptions, see the "Other documents" section above.
Combos: I list 1 per character. For more, see "Cyrax's Combo FAQ" above.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Key -------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
U = Up HP = High Punch HK = High Kick
F = Forward BL = Block
D = Down LP = Low Punch LK = Low Kick
B = Back R = Run
Move (distance): movement
For movement:
"-" means "then"
"+" means "and"
So D-F-HP+LP means Down, then forward, then hit HP and LP at the same time.
Hold button (other thing) more things
So "hold LP (D-F-D-F) HK" means
"Hold LP, then tap D-F-D-F, then let go of LP, then hit HK, release HK"
A word about "Hold button"...
Sometimes you have to hold the button a certain amount of time. If
something doesn't work that involves holding a button, hold it longer.
If something requires UP, it helps to hold block, but it is not necessary.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Special things --------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Combos:
- I have listed the "best" combo I know of for each character.
- Only combos that you can start on the ground.
- I have turned the updating of combos over to somone else. An update
will be appearing soon. When? Who knows. Don't ask.
---------------------------------------
Friendships/Babalities:
- Don't hit block during the winning round
- You can be anywhere on the screen
- You can do a friendship/babality after a doing a mercy (optional)
---------------------------------------
Stage fatalities:
Shao Kahn's Tower
The Subway
The Pit III
(see "Stage:" for each character)
(the distance is always "up close")
---------------------------------------
Mercy: Hold RUN (D-D)
This gives your opponent a little bit of energy back after you beat them.
- You have to hold run a certain amount of time. Around 2-3 seconds.
- Your opponent has to have won one round.
- You can be anywhere on the screen except close.
- You have to do this if you want to do an Animality. After the mercy has
been done, and it says "Finish him/her" again, anyone can do an animality.
- You can't do more than one mercy per match.
- You may do any finisher (Fatality, Friendship, Stage or Babality) after
the mercy. This does not mean you HAVE TO do the mercy first.
---------------------------------------
Random Select: Just like MK2.
Up-Start at the select screen. The default players have to be selected
for this to work. Shang Tsung for Player 1 and Liu Kang for Player 2.
---------------------------------------
VS. screen codes
